I’m Michelle Doughty, a self-taught artist with a lifelong love of creativity, nature and the simple joy of making something beautiful.

My creative journey began when I was young, doodling and drawing in my bedroom. I loved being creative, but I didn’t choose art as a subject at school because, at the time, I simply didn’t think I was good enough. Looking back, creativity was always a part of who I was — I just needed the confidence to follow it.

Over the years, that early love of drawing and making has grown into a real passion for creating original artwork filled with warmth, character and joy.

For me, art isn’t something that should only be admired in galleries. I believe it should be lived with, loved and enjoyed. One of the things I enjoy most about painting is creating pieces that bring other people as much happiness as they bring me while I’m creating them.

I work from my studio in Suffolk, creating original paintings inspired by the things that capture my imagination, with a particular love for animals, wildlife and the natural world. Every original is individually painted by me, making each one a unique piece of artwork with its own character and story.

I’m also very happy to accept private commissions. I love the idea of creating artwork that has a special meaning to someone, so if there’s a particular animal, subject or idea you would love me to paint, I’d be delighted to hear from you.

My journey as an artist has really been about finding my way back to the creativity I loved as a child — only this time, I have the confidence to see where it takes me.
